Creating & Editing an Issue

Select your content, customize the design, and prep a single issue for sending.

An Issue is a single send with your newsletter — one specific email built from your newsletter's default settings, with its own content and (optionally) its own overrides.

Before you start: You'll need at least one Content Source connected before you can pull content into an issue. Read more about setting up Content Sources here.

Click + New Issue from the newsletter dashboard to create one. You'll land in the issue editor, which has four tabs:

Content

This is where you select and arrange what goes into this specific send.

Select Content

This panel shows everything currently added to the issue, organized by section (if your template has sections):

Available Content

Click "Select Content" to pop up the available content panel. Here you can select any content you have previously added to your Content Sources.

  • Add Visible Items — quickly add everything currently shown.

  • Add URL — Paste a URL (from a blog, etc.) and see the content perfectly format into your template.

  • Add Empty Block — insert a blank content block to fill in manually.

  • Clear all sections / Manage content sources — quick links at the bottom of the panel. Manage content sources will take you to the Content Source area within Feedotter.

The live preview on the right updates as you add, remove, or reorder content. Drag items to reorder them.

Click the pencil/edit icon on any block to adjust its title, CTA text, author, URL, description, and more:

Customize

Same interface as the Customize tab in Newsletter Default Settings (Visual / Code views, Template Library, Apply Changes) — but changes made here apply only to this issue, not to the newsletter's default template.

As with the default-settings version, the Visual view only allows editing static elements by selecting them directly in the preview; content-loop items aren't editable here.

Preview

A dedicated view of the finished email as it will render, separate from the live builder preview.

Settings

These are issue-level settings — they override the newsletter defaults for this issue only. Anything you don't touch here falls back to what's configured in Newsletter Default Settings.

Unlike the Default Settings version, the issue-level Settings tab has just one sub-section:

Basics

  • Default CTA Text — override the CTA button text for this issue only

  • UTM ReportingConfigure UTM Codes for this issue's content links

  • Email CodeInline all CSS / Compress email output checkboxes, plus Copy Final HTML To Clipboard and Download Final HTML links for this specific issue
